Fluval E300 Heater

Postby F15FreeEagle (60) » Sun Jul 22, 2018 2:27 pm

So... I broke down and bought a fluval E300, and put it in my 75 gallon aquarium. The digital display on this heater has been all over the place, reading anywhere from 71F to as high as 82F. I put in at the preset 77F, and the glass thermometers (I put in 3 of them just to see what they were reading) were all saying 72. So I raised the heater up to 80F, and now the glass (trusty) thermometers now read 76F.

After having this product 72 hours, I do not think I would recommend it. I may just stick to the Aqueon Pros. I was going to get the Cobalt Neo-Therm, but further research suggested that they have a reputation (at least in the past) of exploding in the aquarium or sumps. This of course, would be a disaster.

So in closing, I am wondering what heater(s) you use, and what has your experience been with them?

Well... It seems now over the last 24 hours the E300 digital thermometer is within .5 -1 degree of the glass thermometers. Very strange? I will wait it out a few more days and see what happens?
