3 Gallon Planted shrimp tank

Postby meh (1454) » Sun Dec 31, 2017 12:40 pm

Hello and happy New Years to everyone! I’m starting a journal on my 3 gallon shrimp tank.

Substrate

I decided to go with fluorite. I have never tried it but with further investigation on the forum reading fellow hobbyists past experiences who know far more then I do, I decided that people have the most success with it in my opinion. I thought it was gonna be hard to clean but I had no trouble at all with it.

Hardscape

I bought a nice little piece of drift wood that doesn’t fill up the tank on purpose. I thought of using a partial clay pot but decided against it in the end

Plants

So after researching I came up with three plants for this tank.

Java fern
Anubis
Crypt

Livestock

2x Amano Shrimp

So far I have couple of Amano Shrimp doing very well In the tank and I have a small order of cherry shrimp on the way. This is the first time with Amanos and I have had good success with them so far. I will not probably add any fish. Thought about endlers but I’m sticking with the shrimp Only idea

Pictures to come!

Question for the forum. Would a trio of Pygmy cories be ok for this tank or a no go?

Cories + Shrimplets = Cories.
