I have a 55 Gallon Freshwater (non-planted) Community Tank.

Is there any advantage to having Moss Balls in the tank? Do they provide any benefit? If so, how many?

Thanks

Welcome to TFH!

Those moss balls are acutally made of a special species of Cladophora algae and not moss at all. (That's really only pertinent because you don't ever want to dose any algae-killing products in your tank if you have these balls as they will typically kill the ball as well.)

The main benefit of these balls is people like the way they look. They also are like any other live plant and will help somewhat keep up the water quality (they're small and slow growing, so not a whole lot, but some ;) )
