Planted tank lighting duration and K values.

K rating and watts plus duration of lighting. (using DIY CO2 with Red Sea Turbo CO2 Bio System-use their containers and pump w/venturi but w/DIY yeast fermentation instead of their refills).

I have a CF light fixture with 4x65W bulbs (21-22") straight pin. I am currently running two 10K and two 6700K bulbs,
is this a good combination?

Which bulb should be first to light and what would be the best duration time?

Would I be better off running 4 6700K bulbs with one set on for 11 hrs and the other set on for 7 hrs?

IMO the difference between the two spectrums really boils down to aesthetics more than anything else. Supposedly the 6700k produce the "best" light for photosynthesis, but in reality I don't think hobbyists will really see any difference between the two. 9235k bulbs also are rated pretty high.

So my :twocents: is run whichever ones you like the looks of best.

Personally, I'd probably run a combo at all times.

I prefer running 6700K and 10000K Bulbs together as well. We can't find the GE9325's here in Canada, so this really removes that option.

I'm a 6700/10,000K combo man myself. The T-5 plant grow bulbs from Aqua Medic are very nice! They don't give a kelvin rating, but a breakdown of nanometers for the bulb, which is more accurate anyway plus a CRI index of 98. I also use the "siesta" method for algae control. Lights on for 5 hours, then off for two, then back on for 5 with a timer on all my planted tanks.
