Heya !

An open thread, anyone welcome :D (but watch for Crazygarys random comments)

Wed night 40g.
Hydrogen peroxide (H202) bath for all the vals, and C tropica (4ml/g for 1 hour)
Moved the jungle vals to the rear right.
Unwrapped the 'thread-leaf'' vals (similar to val 'nano') and spread those from the left front to left rear.
Split my Ozelot sword in two as it seemed to be 2 plants.
Split C tropica into 4-5 plantlets
All stuff replanted - with roots trimmed and any damaged leaves removed.
Front glass cleaned.
*note* - why didn't I get angled tweezers BEFORE ?

Thurs night 10g
1/3 water change, then acclimated a dozen red cherry shrimp juvies.
added a heater (was 70F, landlady musta turned off the heat)
*note* - want to move my bn pleco into this tank for a bit to see if she'll eat the filamentous green algae*

Fri night
Picking up a pair of domestic bred german blue rams for the 40g, primarily to annoy the male keyhole cichlid that is ticking me off in many ways. ROFL. (all in all, a good excuse to get more fish)

Might be picking up an Azoo pressurized co2 setup this weekend including diffuser. We'll see what happens.

The pair of german blues are acclimating along with a female platy, while I'm eating pizza.
That's a great way to start a Friday evening !!!

Yes M'aam :D

Sorry it's far from picture perfect, still some work to do and some algae to overcome.
The male ram is a bit stressed too.

Good stuff Herb. I see some Frogbit... Its nice to see you getting back into things again. Once things settle down here, I'll be sending a small "care" package your way. Make some room for Cryptocoryne pontederiifolia, C.undulata...

Hey that's looking pretty nice!

Have you grown Dounoi before? I love the looks of it, but I've never tried keeping it.

Any reason you're not burying the slate on that big piece of DW?

Thanks !
I haven't grown Downoi before, grows similar to a crypt. I hope it does well I like the bright green and a different leaf structure from anything else in the tank. The slate in the ten gal not sure if that's it's final location. I'll have to be careful moving it around so I don't crush a shrimp !

Remember Deb's (Piscesgirl) tank? Looks something like it Herb. Downi is really "touchy". Make sure your water parameters are bang on or it'll melt away and never return (unlike Cryptocoryne) again.

Yup, I remember Deb AND her awesome tanks too. I'm really hoping that Downoi will grow so will be careful with the params. Thanks for the warning :D

As long as you pay attention to your tank, you will be fine. Lighting, Co2 and nutrients are very important to this plant. Where did you pick this up at? Big Al's on Dundas E (Missasauga)? They usually have a ton of supercool plants in stock.

BA Steeles - they had small downoi bits which was leftover of the potted that sold for more. Three for ten dollars. Most looked like it was too far gone. I figured what the heck !

The new platy is gone, looked all around the tank even. :dismay: '
Still have the speckled one but that is just weird.
