I've reared a miniatus grouper in my 400gal system tank for about 6 years and he/she is doing great. Does anyone know their longevity? He is the only fish in the tank, and if you know these bruisers, you know why :) .

Honestly, that's a wonderful question. I wish I could answer it for you. I've had one at one point or another. He's since been given to my local aquarium. He's currently about the same age as yours. He was one of my favorites.

The video above was him when I first got him.

Anyway, it's larger family member the goliath grouper has been known to live up to 50 yrs... I'd imagine this smaller species won't live to that length. I'd vote they could live well into the teens. Hard to gauge, most people don't bring them into big enough homes to keep them long enough.
