The New Saltwater Tank : The Beginning!

Postby lou zello (371) » Wed Aug 12, 2015 12:52 pm

So here I go again !! My new 120 gal. custom built glass corner tank is getting shipped to me today.I have 115 gals of boxed salt water,100lbs of live reef sand/rubble,and 160 lbs of Caribsea LIFE ROCK just waiting in the garage. This should be the start of what I hope to be a long running post, with photos ! !!!!!!!!! I don't expect the tank sooner than next tues so I will take the first photos when it's sitting in my driveway.

Finally got the tank !!!!!!!!!!!!! Last wensday, and I started taking photos as it was being unloaded from the truck. It took three guys to lift the tank and carry it in the house,at least the only door that had to come off was the storm door. I first painted the back of the tank black then glued the hoses in and pushed the tank into place and made sure it was level. Now it was time to figure out how I wanted the " LIFE ROCK" to look.Somehow I thought of making a cardboard patern of the bottom, back, and sides of the tank, spray painted it black, put it on the floor of my youngest girls room, laid a sheet on the floor and put all 160 lb's of my " CARIBE SEA LIFE ROCK " on the sheet. I then spent the next two days designing my " ROCK" formation. The last two days have been spent epoxying all the pieces into the tank, and that's where I am today. Now I will wait till tomorrow to add the sand and water and fire it up,praying the whole time there are NO leaks !!!!! I have taken photos of EVERY STEP ALONG THE WAY and will POST THEM OVER THE WEEKEND !!!!!!!!
