Curing live rock/using it to cycle a tank?

The directions say to change 50% of the water weekly? Is that 1 50% water change in a week, or can/should I break it up into several smaller ones?
It's ok to love a bottom dweller.

It's whatever you want to do. Just remember don't add any Fish/Corals into that tank while you are cycling. The Rock will go through stages.
