20g I'm Abyss Drop-off Panorama

Postby Freshwater Tropic (2114) » Sat Feb 03, 2018 9:30 pm

So, I'm at it again. Got a new tank. It's so cool! I can't wait to get it stocked! Gonna get back into breeding clownfish.

Equipment so far:
**AI Prime HD
**ATK Auto top off

More to be added. Going skimmer-less, just gonna do water changes more often.

Keep an eye out for more update. Feel free to post any replies!

Thanks!ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Haha! I can't wait to send in the clowns!

Hooked up the Auto Top Off(ATO) today. This will help me keep my water a bit more in check. I'm going to be adding Kalkwasser to my RO-DI top off water. This will help keep calcium and Alk up... That is once I add corals to the tank. All in due time. I made a custom ATO reservoir out of a dog food storage container. Instead of spending $130+ on an acrylic pre-made one. Instead, I spend $25 and drilled a few holes. Lol That's a win in my book!

At the moment, I'm adding Dr. Tims Ammonium Chloride to complete a fish-less cycle.

Backed by Dr. Tims One & Only

www.drtimsaquatics.com/treat-aquarium-n ... nia-levels

This dramatically reduces the cycle time and I swear by it. It's never let me down in all the tanks I've set up.

More updates to follow. ImageImageImage

I'm planning on doing a pair of black ice clownfish & maybe a small wrasse of some kind. Unsure of which kind. What I really wanted to do instead of the wrasse was a dragnet goby from ORA. They're tank raised and eat your typical foods unlike the wild caught ones. Unfortunately, they don't have any available at the moment.

Below is a picture of the clowns I am going to get. Image

They are great --almost making me wish I was a salty! Are you going to try growing some "live rock"?

I used already cured live rock. Which means it's established a healthy benefical bacteria level and will have little to no die off. I've added ammonium chloride to the tank to feed the bacteria. The cycle is almost complete. Ammonia is almost undetectable and nitrite has almost peaked. Nitrates have just starter to present itself.

More updates to come .

Alright, so... The tank is cycled! Hooray! Now to find my clownfish!

Also, I've added a Neptunes Apex Control system. I'm able to track and control my tank from my phone or work complete via any web browser. Super cool! Not to mention it alerts me with text messages if a problem arises! Totally work it.

Hooked up my RO-DI unit in my garage too. Got that all ready!

Things are coming together nicely. Pictures below.

Note: The pictures of the controller head showing temp and pH were taken when the lights have been off for 17 days straight and with no heater. ImageImageImageImage

New Black Ice Clownfish pair are acclimating. They're very young, so I have a little while before they become old enough to pair off(If they do). My luck, they'll pair but never breed, which happens. We shall see. Image
