I think i needed more mechanical filtration so i added more aquarium filter foam to the filter and it seems to be clearing the tank up. I also used some water clarifier and that is really doing the trick to. I think i may have not washed the sand well enough before using it and some of the fine particulate matter wont settle out. It is slowly getting clearer however the pictures seem to make the tank look cloudy due to the lighting. also i have noticed that there are a lot of air bubbles in the water. All of my previous tanks never had theses many bubbles floating around and i think that also makes it look cloudy in pics versus real life  . Apple snail has so far left my plants alone. Which leads me to add i finally got new plants. The following pics show the tank before and after the new plants.

Wow, I have the larger version of that bowfront (75) for my Rift Lake project.

Looks like the tank is moving along nicely. I am unsure of the Apple Snails, I hear reports of them being Plant Eaters and others of them not bothering them at all. I guess observation will determine that.

Down to 6 tetras, a few died. I think petco sells terrible stockings of these small schooling fish. Many are deformed and show signs of inbreeding in my opinion. So i think for now i will not be buying anymore schooling fish from there. However i still have not decided on what other fish to include in the tank. I need some driftwood so i can get a BN pleco. Is driftwood necessary for these, i have read some yes and no opinions on it. I really like the little guys though. Cherry shrimp will deff be an upcoming addition. The ghost shrimp by far fascinate the heck out of me so it would be cool to get a large colony of breeding shrimp going in this tank. Other than that ill have some more updates after christmas

Not to bash other stores, but I prefer buying local from Mom and Pop stores when I can. I deal strictly with one in town here in Winnipeg, and there are tons to choose from.

Try finding another source.

a long overdue update. Life has been hectic with graduating college this semester. Tank is doing extremely well. It is stocked with 2 dalmatian mollies, a black molly, two goldust mollies, 10 neons, and 5 albino corys and 1 bn pleco. all the mollies are female except the black one, hoping to make some babies! The tank is coming along so awesomely compared to previous posts. i started dosing dry ferts and my plants exploded. I highly recommend going to bobs tropical plants website and using his dry ferts starter package if you want awesome and lush plants. Any ways here is a recent pic of the tank. any questions comments are welcome!

Looks good! I like the layout --the balance of plants and rock.

I'm thinking of pulling the crypts and doig a dwarf hair grass spread in the middle area. The crypts just dont seem to be flourishing as i had hoped.

Give Crypts time, they tend to die back and linger for a little while before they get adjusted. I love the look of the plants and rocks as well, good job.
