Hi again my fellow hobbyists :)
So... Once again I'm asking for opinions, as there seems to be conflicting information...
My African Cichlid aquarium (mbuna) is 120 gallons. I have 2 canister filters set up both are penn plax cascades (1000 and 1500.) My question: should I keep the outflow "wide open," or close it off some, to maybe 60% or so? I also have 2 air stones in this aquarium.
I have had this set up wide open for around 18 months now, and they appear to be thriving. They are all active, eating well, and of course they are breeding, as cichlids will do. So I hesitate to change anything, but just curious. :)

My thought is if it isn't broke ,don't fix it.

Rift lake fish are from lakes. It is suggested that lakes have less water movement than rivers. Well, they do not have the same kind of flow as a river, but there is water movement in the lakes. These fish are probably not going to do well in a tank set up for hillstream loaches and similar fish, but they need some water movement.
I will agree with Photoman- Your fish are doing fine. This suggests the water movement is doing a good job of removing wastes and circulating oxygen. Unless you find a problem that needs a change, I would keep things as they are.
