Last Friday night was the club meeting and I was lucky enough to pick up a bag of BAP L183's. They are only about an inch long but they sure are pretty.....

I think this is going to do me for plecos for awhile. In the last couple of months I've picked up some very nice L046, L183 & L201. I was thinking of getting some "Super Reds", but I'm going to wait a bit on them.....

What a great find! That's beautiful! I love plecos and dearly miss having them. I had a Clown Pleco (Panaque maccus) that passed away last year after having him for 26 years. I've been looking for new pleco, but my local stores don't seem to have much variety. I don't want another Clown pleco because that wouldn't feel right. The stores in my area mostly have either very large plecos (or those that would quickly outgrow my tank) or very run-of-the-mill plecos. So I keep shopping around and waiting.

Maybe I need to do like you did and start going to some sort of club meetings and network.

As I was typing this I did a quick bit of Googling on L183's. Looks like they don't get very big. Could be perfect for my current tank. I think I'll have to add that to my fish wish list.

Nice photos, by the way. I always had a terrible time trying to shoot pictures of the Clown pleco I had. It seemed like he knew exactly when I was going to snap the shot and he would dart off at lightning speed.

Thanks Andrew. Sorry to hear you lost an old friend in your Clown Pleco.

Local clubs can be a fantastic place to acquire new fish, you should definitely check them out!

Sweet, Galaxy Bristlenose! Good one, and if you can get them to breed (if you have a small group) you'll have a long time supply for many years to come.

Most definitely! It's been a really long time since I purchased any fish without hopes of spawning them. :D

The WetSpot has them listed for $30 each. Here's an auction that's currently at $200 for 8 fish ==>> http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwcatfishp&1368582978.

I got a fantastic deal on mine at the local BAP auction after the last meeting. 6 fish for $55 They are quickly becoming my favorite pleco! They are active and out all the time. My Zebra (L046), and Orinoco Angel (L201) spend most of their time hiding...

Your tempting me but I have trouble with catfish. I'm afraid I'd be dumping my money and poor fish in the toilet.

I think the biggest issue with spawning them is the water. I'll be keeping them in 100% rain water just like the Otocinclus. Mine are much too small to spawn at the moment as they are only around 1.5 inches in length. They are growing very quickly though so maybe by Christmas.....

beautiful fish, I bought 3 a few years back, but they all turned out to be female and I could not get hold of a male so I ended up giving them away to friends, they are not as straight forward to look after as the common bristlenosed catfish, I kept mine in a blackwater tank and they did very well

I'd appreciate more pictures and videos! Lovely fish and not within my overall plans, so I'll live through you!

Just a quick update. These guys have been doing really well for me. Not sure how many are in the tank at the moment, but they have spawned several times.
