New T5 HO lighting arrived today

Postby SteveJor (658) » Tue Feb 26, 2013 11:16 pm

Wow! I can't believe the amount of light that comes out of such a thin diameter bulb.
I was worried the fans would be loud but they aren't loud at all.
Even though this is a FOWLR tank, I figured upping the light would help with coralline growth and if I decide to get a few mushrooms, I have the lighting for them.

I run 3 T5HO 54W over Phoenix and it turns my living room into INSTANT daylight. I love it! Yes, pictures Steve, you should know us by now.

Exactly. My living room no longer needs the light on. This lights up the entire room.

I don't know why I have alternate lighting in the room, it really does not need it. The output of those 3 lights completely illuminate the room. Though when they turn off at night, it's like being plunged into Darkness.

For a SW, you might need a bit more lighting though my friend. Pump up the jam!

That's my favorite thing to do at night. Use my tank as the only source of light for my living room! It works very well! Those LED's can be very bright! Lol...

As for his lighting, I think this is a FOWLR setup, so the lighting should suffice unless he plans to do more demanding corals. Not to contradict your Gary! Sorry!

I love new lights. Took me a long time to get, but I finally have two 36" Aqualight Pro HQIs on my 125 reef. Man what a difference. My mushrooms decided to multiply like crazy when I put them in. I have managed to keep my LFS supplied as I am running out of room...

FOWLR

I may or may not add some mushrooms down the line but that would be about all.

Ok for a FOWLR, you have enough then. Best thing about lighting you can always upgrade when the Coral Urge bites, and it does bite.. ;)
