NM Native Guppies

Have a Freshwater/Saltwater Question? This is a place to put it and maybe it will be used in an upcoming issue of TFH Magazine in the Freshwater Q&A, Saltwater Q&A, or letters to the editor.

NM Native Guppies

Postby twotone12valve (330) » Mon Jan 07, 2013 10:11 pm

I was reading in the Jan 2013 issue about the findings of a wild guppy population in NM. In the article there is a picture of the female but no shots of any males does anyone have a picture of a native male?

It was an interesting article no doubt. I do not know if there are any pictures of the male guppies anywhere, but maybe if you e-mail the editors, or if there is an e-mail address for the person who wrote the article at the end of it (I don't remember and can't look right now) maybe they could pass the question on and you could get pointed in the right direction.

There an e-mail I did ask him, so I'll just wait on a reply. I thought I would cover the bases.

Sadly, invasive species have a strong foothold in the Southern US. I would attempt to contact a local Aquarium Society to see if anyone has ran into them in your area.
