I have been fortunate enough to have bred the African butterfly fish and I was a little surprised when Mark Denaro said that they are mouthbrooders. When I bred them the eggs floated to the surfaced and I removed them to a tank of their own. I call this breeding a successful failure as I managed to keep the fry alive for three weeks before the last one succumbed to fungus. Could someone confirm if they are mouthbrooders or not.

Seriously Fish http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/pantodon-buchholzi/ has them listed as egg-scatterers. Live Aquaria states just what you mention, the eggs float to the top of the water... http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=830+836+1593&pcatid=1593
