Hey Y'all, 'nother Texan here

Hi all,

I'm into planted tanks primarily. Previously my tanks focused on the low tech end. I was interested in just how UN-tech I could get while still maintaining a highly stable and healthy plant/fish environment.

It gets pretty interesting all on it's own, and my tanks are quite beautiful. However, the closer you get to ideal stability with a low tech tank, the less you have to do tank-wise.

I rather like fiddling with the environment... so now I'm going to try out a bit of the high tech end of things. My "hero" is Amano Takashi...
He's done so many spectacular HUGE planted tanks, that I think some of his smaller tanks don't get the attention they probably deserve. Although with someone of his stature, I don't believe that any of his work goes unnoticed and unregarded.

Anyway, although I love the process of creating and maintaining an underwater garden, no garden is complete without it's fauna. Not only are fish a beautiful addition to any aquascape, they are interesting in their own right, & my original introduction to the wet world was through a fascination with tropical fish.

Oh yes... currently I have 2 high tech (high LED lights, CO2 & supplement dosing) "nano" tanks, a 8 gal Fluval and a 5 gal marineland crescent. I also have a 29gal bowfront that's low tech, with crypts and swords, mainly, for plants & a pair of angels.

I also have a 20gal long that I'm in planning stages on, and I'm waiting on delivery of a 100 gal tank complete with high tech equipment, that I will probably have to experiment a bit with before actually putting some fish into it. That tank is deeper than anything I have previously worked with & it will be a learning experience on several fronts.
