A Little About me, I am 30 And live with my family in colorado. I have been an off and on hobbist for many years till about 7 years ago when I meet my wife and we moved to our first place togeather. we couldnt have any pets but an aquarium was ok. So I pulled my old 5 gallon hex out and we started with guppys. Well it snow balled from there in a couple months We had a 20 gallon, and then got a 10 gallon for grow out as we all know how guppys are. Any way Thats how it sat for 2 years. When we got married our up stairs neighbor got us a 55 gallon for our wedding present. From that point on I got heavly involved in planted tanks for 2 years. When we bought our first house, and had our now 3 1/2 year old daughter, the tanks went by the way side. An I lost intrest due to the fact my LFS's dont cater to planted tank enthusists. I also gave discus a try with no sucess. But on to the present I have found a renewed intrest and have put the tanks in our living room to keep a closer eye on them.
I am now redoing my 20 and 55 as cold water shrimp tank, ie no heaters will be room temp. My 20 gallon is going to be for Red Cherries and Fire reds, where as the 55 is going to house Amano, CRS/CBS. I have a 10 gallon I am setting up for Blue Velvets, As well as a 20 Long for Tiger Shrimp eventually. We also removed our fire place and have built a nook that is 55 inches wide by 24 inches deep, That I am going to be building an in wall tank for discus to hopefully prosper. It should be around 120-140 gallons, with a 40 gallon planted sump. I figure with all the insulation in there it is going to be eaiser to keep the tank at 82 deg. I hope you all look forward to the build!
Any way keep an eye out for me and my builds as I have time to post things up. Thanks for a great place to talk fish,
Curt
P.S. I suffer from MTS which is a highly contagious!!
